It's A Pitiful Life

I love this movie, but I've gotta agree: the message is very ironic and ambiguous.

  1. It's in the linked article - example: the "nightmare" Bedford Falls seems like a happenin' little place: lots of bars, live music and dancing girls. Who wouldn't want to live there? Another example: Why doesn't George tell his Uncle that he's a "stupid, silly old fool" and fire him before he loses the Building and Loan's entire cash reserve? etc. Hmmm. Maybe things weren't really so rosy.

  2. And don't forget that the villain steals the money and gets away with it.

  4. Dave Kellett (www.sheldoncomics.com) has taken on this movie at Christmas for at least the last couple of years. His observations for 2007 were particularly devastating (and hilarious). I highly recommend a visit to the archives.
