It Was A Dry Heat

I went on a 25-mile bike ride today in the middle of this scorcher. It was 90 degrees at 11 AM when I started, 95 at noon and the high was 97 at 3 PM. But I took this snapshot at 1 PM... local temps were a bit higher. Riding on the sidewalk next to the traffic was like breathing from a blow-dryer. I took a Camelback canteen full of ice and water and today I used it all; first time for that.

To quote Brigid, "So's my oven, but I don't want to ride a bike there." OK, so that's not exactly how she put it...

Supposedly we've had 78 minutes of summer here in Pugetoplolis so far this year...

I think you deserve a big attaboy. I thought about going for a run yesterday but thought better of it. Here's to avoiding both heat rash and road rash on the same outing!

Acclimatization is good... And hydration is even better! I admire your persistence!

Persistence?
I was leaning toward "Bat Ass Crazy."
I am, of course, deeply envious of your ability. I've a 25 year old Schwinn 12-speed. Have put on new tires (backwards! When the Hell did they make bike tires directional?), new lights (so my widow can sue whom ever hits me at night), and am shopping for a new seat. Am so out of shape I'm not about to hit the streets in this heat.
You are an inspiration to me. Will be on the road as soon as the weather breaks.
