He Doesn't Do Windows

Interesting article in the NYT about Ubuntu Linux entrepreneur Mark Shuttleworth.

*nods* I read it. For anyone who isn't into gaming, Ubuntu is a better option than Windows, since it's free and ten times more secure from spyware and viruses. Even gamers can use it if they're willing to boot Windows as a virtual machine within Ubuntu, which is rather complicated but can be done.

Linux is getting closer each year to being user-friendly enough to replace Windows.

I like it a lot. It was hard to set up the first time, a couple of years ago, but that was mostly due to disk-read errors. Installation from a commercial disk is a breeze, and you can get a commercial installation disk at almost any newsstand, inside one of those magazines. I use Windows 2K Pro now only because of a few Windows-only programs: Adobe Photoshop and Premiere, Ham Radio Deluxe and Blackberry applications.
