Not only are all of the FBI's serious crime rates at or below their historic lows, most of the incident-counts are, too! Even though the population grew from 247 million in 1989 to 304 million in 2008.

Hmmm, I wonder if the near 3 million gun purchases in the last 12 months had anything to do with it?
Yeah, I don't need to point out that the number of guns owned by American citizens increased by about four million a year during those two decades.
